wedding in spring

On Saturday, my longest and dearest friend Emily Jane married Timothy Simpson. I wept from start to finish at the beauty of it all, the tastes of Heaven. I watched from the side of the stage at her peaceful face, reveling in worship of her first husband, about to gain an earthly one. It was our first wedding to attend since our own and the weight of the vows alongside the promise of God's help and grace to endure felt new again. It was pure joy to watch sweet Em, so intentionally Jesus-focused love and sing and wonder at the gift of marriage given to her. It was a joy to be beside her as she steps into what I know will be God's sweetest gift other than her salvation this side of Heaven.
And then we danced and rejoiced, and we danced some more. And so we continue on as we wait for Jesus. Worshiping and wondering and singing and praising and waiting. Tasting his nearness in all his gifts, marveling at his kindness in his pleasures, wondering with awe as he shows us his love.
