may he know you
My prayer this morning, my prayer as I lay him down each time in his crib, my prayer when he was beneath my hands in my round belly, my prayer as I stare into his eyes as I feed him: may he know you. May he not remember a day without loving you and knowing you. May he never believe that his goodness makes him right before you or earned his love from you. I pray for all my future children, may they know you and be known by you. Of all the prayers I will ever pray for them, of all the desires I will have for them--this is the greatest of all. I give them up to you with open hands. May they run wild and free after your will, even if that leads to suffering or danger. That their lives be for your glory, bringing you joy and glory, thus filling their lives with joy and glory--this is all I ask.
