marriage retreat

This weekend, we took our fifth little marriage retreat in Aberdeen, Maryland. We stayed in the coziest carriage house, ate lots of blueberry pancakes, slept in (till 8:15, as we do), explored a mysterious Air Force base, climbed a lighthouse, browsed antique shops, picnicked along the Susquehanna river, dipped our toes in the Potomac on the first day over 90, all the while talking and talking, reflecting on God's kindness to us over the past year and thinking and dreaming for the future.
I couldn't have known or imagined even a taste of how rich and joyous a life partnered with Kyle Burke could be. The life we are making together and joy we experience in our love for one another is only a dim glimpse of the holy fellowship in the Trinity. Isn't that amazing? And God-willing, we will only grow deeper into these experiences for all of our days, always growing in a greater longing for the Real Thing, the marriage to our groom for all of eternity in glory.
